Microsoft Windows has a vulnerability in the IPv6 processing of the TCPIP software.  IPv6 packets with a malformed extension header can result in a bugcheck.  By sending specially crafted traffic IPv6 traffic a remote attacker can cause a denial of service of the system.

Technical Description:

This bulletin covers a privately disclosed vulnerability in the Windows TCP/IP system.  The IPv6 memory corruption vulnerability is triggered by improper handling of specially crafted IPv6 packets with a malformed extension header.  A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted IPv6 traffic resulting in a denial of service.
