Detailed Description

Business Impact:

Compromise of machines may lead to exposure of confidential information, loss of productivity, and further compromise such as malware. An attacker may embed a browser frame link on an otherwise non-malicious website to an exploit for this vulnerability or try to entice a user to click on a link for example, in an email.

IBM customers have been protected pre-emptively since 2008 from this exploit with protection listed below.  The signature javascript-large-unescape is not default blocking so should be enabled within the product to have this protection.

Technical Description:

Apple QuickTime ActiveX control could allow a remote attacker to execute code on the system by choosing a specially crafted parameter value to reference user supplied pointer address. By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted Web page, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the victim.
